Rackpad
Every cable, switch port, VLAN, and rack unit in a homelab or small server room gets a documented place in Rackpad, a self-hosted inventory and operations workspace. Rack elevations show mounted gear, including paired half-width appliances. Switch-panel port maps and aggregate ports show what is patched where. Cables carry type, length, and color, editable in bulk. VLANs, subnets, DHCP scopes, reservations, and zones sit in one Networks workspace, with gateway and DNS protection and a mismatch review for IP assignments. Storage topology follows drives, bays, and pools that span several devices. Wi-Fi controllers, access points, hypervisor hosts, and virtual machines have pages of their own, and Proxmox and Hyper-V hosts can be imported after review. Discovery scans a subnet or any CIDR and stages every finding in an inbox. Per-device checks over ICMP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, and SNMP raise alerts by email, Discord, or Telegram. Everything feeds a movable topology map. Markdown runbooks attach to devices, and an audit log records every change. Admin, editor, and viewer roles control access, and OpenID Connect login is optional. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. MIT licensed.
Benefits
- One source of truth for gear
- Racks, devices, ports, cables, IPs, and VLANs live in one linked database, so you can see what plugs into what instead of digging through spreadsheets and notes.
- Catch duplicate IPs and MACs early
- Duplicate-MAC and IP-mismatch filters on the device list, mismatch review in Networks, and duplicate detection in the discovery inbox flag conflicts before they cause an outage.
- Runs as one small container
- A single Docker container with SQLite persistence and self-hosted fonts works offline or air-gapped, with nothing to wire together and a data volume to back up.
- Shared access with the right roles
- Admin, editor, and viewer roles control who can change inventory, optional OpenID Connect handles single sign-on, and an audit log records who changed what and when.
Features
- Rack Elevations and Ports
- Dense rack elevations with half-width placement, switch-panel port maps, aggregate ports, and cable patching with bulk metadata editing for type, length, and color.
- Networks and IPAM
- VLANs, subnets, DHCP scopes and reservations, IP zones, gateway and DNS protection, and multi-IP device records in one workspace, with a mismatch review for assignments.
- Monitoring and Alerts
- Per-device ICMP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, and SNMP v1, v2c, and v3 checks, with an optional trap receiver and email, Discord, and Telegram alerting.
- Discovery and Imports
- Scan IPAM subnets, all subnets, or a manual CIDR, reconcile findings in an inbox, and onboard hosts, VMs, and containers from Proxmox or Hyper-V after review.
- Topology Visualizer
- A movable React Flow network map with cable routes, health overlays, and rack, pyramid, diagram, loose-room, port, Wi-Fi, and cable relationship layouts.
- Storage, Wi-Fi, and Docs
- Storage topology for drives, bays, and cross-device pools; Wi-Fi controller, SSID, and AP inventory; and Markdown runbooks with images linked to devices.
