ManageIQ

ManageIQ gives operators one console for every cloud and hypervisor the organization runs, connecting to VMware, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Nutanix to continuously discover inventory, map relationships, and listen for changes without installing agents. Discovered estates become manageable: operators publish bundles of resources into a self-service catalog that end users order like apps, then govern the full life cycle through policy, compliance, delegated operations, and retirement. SmartState analysis scans the contents of VMs, hosts, and containers agentlessly, even foreign or uncooperative ones, feeding security and compliance policies that flag drift automatically. Utilization metrics reveal idle systems and right-sizing opportunities, with capacity planning and what-if scenarios before hardware purchases. Chargeback and showback assign rates to tenants, group VMs by tag or container images by label, and generate reports in multiple currencies. Embedded Ansible automation executes playbooks for provisioning and remediation, and the Spassky release adds Nutanix and Terraform Enterprise providers on a Rails 7.2 core. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Discovery Across Every Provider
  • Connect virtualization, container, network, and storage systems and ManageIQ inventories them continuously, cross-referencing relationships as they change. One dataset replaces a shelf of per-platform consoles and spreadsheets.
  • Self-Service With Governance
  • Publish resource bundles in a catalog users order from, while policies, approvals, and compliance checks run behind every request. Teams move fast without bypassing the controls auditors require.
  • Agentless Compliance Scanning
  • SmartState analysis inspects VM, host, and container contents without agents, working even on foreign or unmanaged images. Security policies detect drift and violations across estates you do not fully control.
  • Optimization and Chargeback
  • Utilization history powers right-sizing recommendations, capacity planning, and what-if scenarios, while tenant rates and tagged grouping produce chargeback reports. Finance and engineering finally argue from the same numbers.

Features

  • Service Catalog Ordering
  • Bundle VMs, networks, and storage into catalog items with approval workflows and lifecycle management through retirement. Shopping-cart ordering makes infrastructure requests feel like an app store.
  • Ansible Automation Engine
  • Run embedded Ansible playbooks for provisioning, configuration, and remediation tied to policies and events. Repetitive operations become versioned, reviewable automation instead of manual console work.
  • Topology and Timelines
  • Visualize provider topologies across networks, middleware, and containers, with event timelines linking alerts to the entities involved. Outage triage starts from a map, not a log dive.
  • Federated Regions Architecture
  • Deploy appliances standalone or as federated global and remote regions with database replication between them. Multinational estates report into one global view while regions operate independently.
  • Container Management Views
  • Monitor Kubernetes and OpenShift with network trends, heat maps, image chargeback, and OpenSCAP-backed policy checks. Container platforms join the same governance model as traditional VMs.
