DocsMint

DocsMint is a self-hosted knowledge workspace where your team writes documentation once and both people and AI agents retrieve it through hybrid search and a built-in MCP server. Documents live in a rich visual editor with Markdown import and export, organized by folders, categories, and tags, with sharing and version history. Search blends exact title matches, multilingual keyword search, typo-tolerant fuzzy matching, and semantic vectors, then widens results through graph relationships between documents, so a query in one language or phrasing still finds the right page. Every edit quietly refreshes the index in the background; nothing needs manual re-embedding. Agents connect through 22 MCP tools covering search, reading, creation, updates, folders, snapshots, and export, over a local stdio bridge or the HTTP endpoint on your own installation. Category-scoped API keys hand each integration only the slice of the library it may read, edit, or write, while a global key serves trusted automation. The same operations are available through the REST API, a typed TypeScript SDK, and a terminal CLI for scripts. The web application installs as a PWA with offline reading, and AI features run on your choice of an OpenRouter key or a fully local Ollama setup. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • One library for people, agents
  • People browse and edit in the web workspace while AI agents search, read, and update the same documents through MCP, REST, the TypeScript SDK, or the CLI, so answers stay consistent everywhere.
  • Search that understands meaning
  • Hybrid retrieval combines exact matches, multilingual keywords, typo tolerance, and 1024-dimensional semantic vectors with graph expansion, then reranks fused results so related concepts and misspellings still surface the right document.
  • Scoped keys for every integration
  • Category API keys grant explicit read, edit, and write permissions for a defined part of your library, letting an agent maintain one project area without ever touching the rest of the workspace.
  • Your infrastructure, your AI choice
  • The Apache-2.0 stack self-hosts with Docker Compose, and AI features run on an OpenRouter key or a fully local Ollama instance, keeping documents and embeddings on infrastructure you control.

Features

  • Rich editor, Markdown friendly
  • A TipTap-based visual editor stores documents in a structured model with folders, categories, tags, sharing, snapshots, and version history, while Markdown stays available for editing, importing, and exporting.
  • Hybrid semantic graph search
  • PostgreSQL 18 with pgvector, pgvectorscale, and Apache AGE powers lexical, fuzzy, vector, and graph-neighbor retrieval fused by reciprocal rank fusion, with automatic background re-indexing after every edit.
  • MCP server, 22 tools
  • Twenty-two MCP tools cover all 31 document operations plus batch actions, with 2 prompts and 3 resources, reachable through the stdio bridge or Bearer-authenticated HTTP at /mcp on your installation.
  • SDK, CLI, REST API
  • The @hiai-gg/docsmint package ships a typed TypeScript SDK, the docsmint terminal CLI, and the MCP bridge, all authenticated by global or category-scoped keys created in Settings, API.
  • Installable PWA workspace
  • The SvelteKit web application installs as a progressive web app with offline reading and explicit drafts, served behind Caddy with rate limiting alongside the Elysia API on Bun.
