BorgWarehouse

Centralizing BorgBackup usually means hand-creating Unix users, wiring SSH keys, and remembering which machine stopped backing up three weeks ago; BorgWarehouse replaces that terminal work with a dashboard built for exactly this job. Add a repository and it provisions the dedicated user, authorized key, and storage quota for you, then hands back ready-to-paste client commands so a new machine is backing up in minutes. Every repository carries a freshness threshold: when no modification lands within the window you set, its status dot turns red and an alert goes out by SMTP email, through Apprise to Discord, Telegram, Slack, Gotify, or ntfy, or as a signed webhook POST to tools like n8n and Uptime Kuma, rate-limited to one alert per repository per day. Append-only mode is enforced on the server, so even a fully compromised client can add archives but never destroy existing ones, which is the property that keeps ransomware from eating your backup history. The monitoring view tracks storage consumption against each quota, a setup wizard walks new clients through onboarding (with a LAN variant for local transfers), and sign-in can delegate to GitHub, Google, Microsoft, GitLab, or any OIDC provider. A versioned REST API automates provisioning, and your passphrase never reaches the server: backups stay end-to-end encrypted on the clients. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Provisioning Without Terminal Work
  • Creating a repository automatically creates its dedicated system user, registers the client's SSH public key, and applies a storage quota, turning a multi-step server chore into one form with ready-to-paste client commands.
  • Ransomware-Resistant Append-Only Repositories
  • Append-only mode is enforced on the server and overrides client configuration, so a breached or hijacked backup client can write new archives but cannot delete or alter the history already stored.
  • Missed Backups Become Loud Alerts
  • Each repository has a freshness threshold based on last modification time; breaching it triggers SMTP mail, Apprise messages to over 100 services, or a secret-signed webhook, capped at one alert daily per repository.
  • Encryption Keys Never Leave Clients
  • BorgWarehouse manages only the server side of BorgBackup and by design never requests, stores, or can access your passphrase, keeping every archive end-to-end encrypted between client and repository.

Features

  • Repository Lifecycle Management
  • Create, edit, and delete Borg repositories from the UI with per-repository alias, custom icon, storage quota in gigabytes, and instant search and sorting across the whole fleet.
  • Status Monitoring And Quotas
  • Cron-driven checks track each repository's last modification and storage usage against its quota, surfacing green or red status in the list and a dedicated monitoring view.
  • Three-Channel Alerting
  • Missed-backup alerts go out through SMTP email, Apprise URLs for services like Discord, Matrix, and Telegram, or built-in webhooks carrying an X-BorgWarehouse-Secret header.
  • SSO With OAuth And OIDC
  • Sign in through GitHub, Google, Microsoft, GitLab, or a generic OpenID Connect provider, with linking to local accounts for teams that already run an identity provider.
  • Versioned REST API
  • A documented, idempotent REST API exposes repository and status operations for automation, alongside cron endpoints such as the status check that scheduled jobs can trigger externally.
