Uncloud

Scatter a few cheap VPS boxes, a home server, and one bare metal machine across three different providers, and Uncloud still treats them as a single place to run your applications. You describe services in ordinary Docker Compose files, deploy them with the uc command line tool, and publish any container port as a public HTTPS endpoint in a single command. Every machine joins an encrypted WireGuard mesh with its own container IP addresses, so services on different continents reach each other directly without VPN configuration or exposed ports. A built-in DNS server resolves service names to container IPs, and the integrated Caddy reverse proxy provisions and renews Let's Encrypt certificates automatically, sharing them across the cluster. Rolling updates replace containers with zero downtime, persistent Docker volumes keep stateful services safe, and the Unregistry integration pushes image layers straight to your machines when no registry is available. There is no control plane to babysit: each machine keeps a synchronised copy of the cluster state, and SSH access to any single node is enough to manage the whole fleet. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Cloud Simplicity On Your Hardware
  • Deploy to any mix of cloud VMs, dedicated servers, and home hardware while keeping a Heroku-style workflow: one CLI, one Compose file, and public HTTPS endpoints without managing a hosted platform account.
  • No Control Plane To Maintain
  • Every machine holds a synchronised copy of the cluster state through peer-to-peer communication, so cluster operations keep working when individual machines go offline and nothing becomes a single point of failure.
  • Automatic HTTPS Without Certificate Chores
  • The built-in Caddy reverse proxy provisions and renews Let's Encrypt certificates, stores them in cluster-wide storage, and coordinates ACME challenges across machines, so every published service gets working TLS by default.
  • Private Networking Between Every Machine
  • A zero-config WireGuard mesh with peer discovery and NAT traversal gives every container a unique IP, letting services communicate directly across providers and regions without opening inbound ports to the internet.

Features

  • Docker Compose Deployments
  • Define multi-container services in the standard Compose format and deploy them unchanged across one machine or an entire cluster, with volumes for persistent state on any member.
  • Zero-Downtime Rolling Updates
  • New container versions replace old ones progressively across the cluster, keeping services reachable during releases instead of stopping the world for every deployment to every machine.
  • Built-In Service Discovery
  • An integrated DNS server resolves service names directly to container IP addresses on the mesh, so containers find each other by name across machines without external registries.
  • Registry-Free Image Push
  • The Unregistry integration builds and pushes Docker images directly to cluster machines, transferring only missing layers instead of routing full images through an external container registry service.
  • Managed Public DNS Names
  • Services published for public access receive automatic DNS records under the uncld.dev domain, with certificate storage shared cluster-wide so HTTPS works on whichever machine answers.
