HomeGenie
HomeGenie runs your whole smart home locally, controlling lights, sensors, cameras, and automations from hardware in your own house, so everything keeps obeying you even with the internet cable pulled. The dashboard is your control room: watch energy consumption, security zones, and environmental conditions in real time, then customize layouts, themes, and charts until the view matches your household. Automations suit every skill level, from a visual editor where scenarios assemble without code, to full programs in C#, JavaScript, or Python against a documented API. The built-in AI assistant, Lailama, runs locally: speak or type natural-language commands and it reasons about your home's context, orchestrates multiple devices, and shows the exact code it executed, so nothing happens by opaque magic. Voice works locally too, with Whisper recognizing speech and Piper answering through the browser. Cameras gain brains through VisionCore, which detects people, vehicles, and objects in real time, records buffered event clips, and feeds what it sees into your automations. A data browser turns months of sensor history into interactive charts with filters like moving averages, so "why did heating spike Tuesday" gets an answer. Virtual modules let you prototype sensors before buying hardware, and the interface speaks more than 90 languages. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.
Benefits
- Cloud-independent by design
- Devices, automations, voice, and AI all run on your own server, so the home keeps working during vendor outages and no household data is shipped to third parties.
- Automate at your level
- Build scenarios in the visual editor without code, or write full programs in C#, JavaScript, and Python against the API, mixing both styles in one system freely.
- Local AI that explains itself
- The on-server assistant interprets natural-language commands, orchestrates devices across rooms, and shows the exact code it executed, keeping every automated decision transparent and auditable.
- Cameras that understand scenes
- VisionCore detects people, vehicles, and objects in live feeds, records buffered event clips, and feeds visual context into automations instead of dumping hours of footage.
Features
- Customizable dashboard
- A responsive web dashboard monitors energy, security zones, and environmental sensors in real time, with editable layouts, themes, widgets, and advanced charts throughout.
- Visual program editor
- An integrated development environment with a JavaScript editor and virtual modules simulates sensors and shutters, letting you prototype automations before deploying to real devices.
- Advanced scheduler
- Extended cron expressions combine with variables, conditions, and natural-language Genie Commands, so schedules react to context instead of blindly repeating fixed times every day.
- Data browser analytics
- Historical sensor logs are explorable through time-range navigation, interactive charts, and filters such as moving averages across temperature, luminance, energy, and more parameters.
- Multi-protocol device support
- Integrated drivers speak X10, Z-Wave, ZigBee, GPIO, SPI, I2C, and infrared or radio-frequency protocols, uniting decades of smart-home hardware behind one server.
- Local voice control
- Whisper speech recognition and Piper synthesis run on the server through the browser, enabling spoken commands and replies in an interface translated into over ninety languages.
