Apache OpenMeetings
Apache OpenMeetings puts the whole meeting in the browser: cameras, a shared whiteboard, the agenda document, and recording controls, all running on your own server. Participants join rooms with audio and video, audio only, or video only, choose camera resolutions and devices, and present by sharing a screen or a single window at selectable quality. Moderators control the floor person by person: who may draw on the whiteboard, present, share or record the screen, mute others, or speak while everyone else stays muted. Multiple whiteboards hold drawings, text, clip art, and imported documents in PDF, office, and image formats, rescaling to fit every participant's screen, and boards can be saved into the drag-and-drop file explorer for the next session. Every meeting can be recorded with all audio streams exactly as heard, then downloaded as MP4 or played back in the integrated player, and the built-in calendar schedules rooms and sends invitations. Breakout rooms split classes and workshops into groups, polls gather decisions live, private and group chat runs beside the video, and telephone users can dial into rooms through the Asterisk SIP integration. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.
Benefits
- Meetings Without A Subscription
- WebRTC audio and video rooms with screen sharing run entirely on your infrastructure, so classes, support sessions, and company meetings need no per-host conferencing licenses or third-party data processing.
- Whiteboards That Keep Work
- Multiple whiteboard instances accept drawing, text, images, and imported PDF or office documents, and boards save into the file explorer to be reopened and reorganized in later sessions.
- Moderation Down To The Person
- Moderators grant or revoke drawing, presenting, screen sharing, recording, and speaking rights per participant, keeping lectures, interviews, and open discussions orderly without separate tooling.
- Recordings You Own Outright
- Sessions record all audio and video as experienced live, downloadable as MP4 or playable in the integrated player, and manageable in the same file explorer as shared documents.
Features
- Room Types For Every Format
- Conference, interview, and webinar rooms plus breakout rooms structure lectures and group work, while the calendar plans meetings and invitations carry the room links.
- SIP Dial-In Via Asterisk
- Integration with Asterisk lets telephone callers join OpenMeetings rooms and lets rooms call external numbers, extending browser meetings to participants without a computer.
- Polls, Chat And Files
- Live polls, group and private messaging, and a drag-and-drop file explorer with document conversion keep questions, decisions, and materials inside the meeting.
- Administration And Branding
- Administrators manage users, groups, rooms, recordings, and configuration in the web backend, with themes, two-factor authentication, OAuth and LDAP login, and REST APIs for automation.
- Kurento WebRTC Media
- Media flows through a Kurento Media Server for WebRTC audio, video, and screen sharing, with configurable quality steps and device selection during the session.
