YunoHost
Host your own email, files, calendars, and passwords on a single server with YunoHost, a server operating system that puts every app behind one web admin and one shared login. Browse a catalog of more than 500 apps, such as Nextcloud, WordPress, and Vaultwarden, filter by quality level, and install in a few clicks, or paste a Git URL for a custom app. Each person signs in once at a portal that shows a tile for every app they may open, and apps with single sign-on skip their own login screen. Groups and per-app permissions control access, including public access for visitors, and the Admins group adds web admin, SSH, and sudo. A full mail stack handles incoming and outgoing email per domain with DKIM signing, and Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically. The domain screen suggests the DNS records you need and can push them to a supported registrar's API, while free .nohost.me, .noho.st, and .ynh.fr subdomains configure themselves. Backups bundle system settings, mail data, and chosen apps into downloadable archives that can be restored selectively from the admin or the command line. Twice a day a built-in diagnosis checks DNS records, mail setup, and system resources, then emails the admins if anything needs attention, with a firewall editor and fail2ban protection alongside. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.
Benefits
- One Login for Every App
- Accounts live in one LDAP directory, so users log in once at the portal and apps with SSO or LDAP support recognize them, with no separate sign-ups or per-app passwords to manage.
- Install Apps Without Manual Setup
- Pick from more than 500 catalog apps, each installed on a domain and path you choose with its own configuration panel and permissions, or install a custom package straight from a Git URL.
- Mail Server Included in the System
- Postfix, Dovecot, and OpenDKIM ship with YunoHost, so each domain can send DKIM-signed email and receive mail, and the built-in diagnosis tests mail DNS records and reverse DNS.
- Backups and Twice-Daily Health Checks
- Back up system settings, mail data, and chosen apps into tar archives from the admin or CLI, restore only what you need, and get an emailed alert when the twice-daily diagnosis finds issues.
Features
- LDAP Accounts and SSOwat
- Accounts live in an LDAP directory, and SSOwat, an nginx Lua middleware, enforces per-app permissions and single sign-on, with a portal API delivering logins to the portal front end.
- Debian Base, Script Installer
- Installs on a Debian 12 Bookworm server with kernel 6.1 or newer through a single curl script, or from images for regular PCs and ARM boards.
- Catalog With Quality Levels
- The app catalog rates packages as high quality, decent quality, or working, can be filtered by category such as Synchronization or Publishing, and accepts custom Git URLs.
- Full Mail Stack
- Postfix sends and receives mail, Dovecot serves IMAP and POP3, and OpenDKIM signs outgoing messages, with incoming and outgoing mail switchable per domain in the admin.
- Let's Encrypt and DNS Tools
- Per-domain Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically, while the DNS tab offers record suggestions and API-based zone configuration for supported registrars such as OVH.
- nftables Firewall and fail2ban
- The admin edits TCP and UDP ports with UPnP toggles on an nftables firewall, and fail2ban protects against brute-force attacks from the Internet.
