Thingport

Authors delete listings, and the 3D models go with them, so Thingport stores its own copy of every printable file you import, in a self-hosted library you control. Ten sites feed the library, including MakerWorld, Printables, Thingiverse, and MyMiniFactory: paste a link or use the browser extension, and a model arrives with its files, photos, description, tags, author, and source link. Synced collections add newly bookmarked models as often as every hour. Files you already own come in as STL, 3MF, STEP, OBJ, or LightBurn uploads, ZIPs, folder trees, or drops into a watched consume folder. Each model gets an interactive 3D viewer with a thumbnail for every plate of a multi-plate 3MF. On first open, a check flags surface holes, non-manifold edges, flipped faces, and loose fragments before you slice. Sort with nested categories, collections, and tags, mark favourites, and find anything with full-text search. Optional AI sorts imports into your categories and tidies descriptions, using a local Ollama model or a cloud API. Open any file in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura, or Creality Print, or download a model, tag, or collection as one ZIP. Every user gets a separate library, with invite-only registration, email verification, and single sign-on. A dashboard shows library statistics, profiles show a year-long activity heatmap, and MCP lets an AI assistant work with the collection. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Models outlive deleted source pages
  • Each import stores the files, photos, description, tags, author, and a link back to the original page, so a model stays printable after its author removes or rewrites it.
  • One library across ten sites
  • MakerWorld, Printables, Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory, and six other providers feed shared categories, collections, and tags, and synced collections import newly bookmarked models as often as every hour.
  • Print problems caught before slicing
  • On first open, STL, OBJ, and 3MF files are scanned for surface holes, non-manifold edges, flipped faces, loose fragments, missing 3MF parts, and implausible sizes, with a plain-language report.
  • AI sorting that stays on-premises
  • Categorization and description cleanup can run on local Ollama, LM Studio, or vLLM models, so nothing leaves your network, and suggestions wait for your review by default.

Features

  • Multi-Site Model Import
  • Paste a link, or use the Thingport Grab extension for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, to import models, whole collections, likes, and MakerWorld print profiles.
  • Browser 3D Previews
  • An interactive viewer renders STL, 3MF, OBJ, and STEP files, shows a thumbnail for every plate of a multi-plate 3MF, and can simplify models above a million triangles.
  • Open in Slicer
  • Send files to Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Creality Print, or Anycubic Slicer Next, with a small Go helper called Thingport Bridge for slicers that reject self-hosted links.
  • Consume Folder Ingest
  • Bind-mount a host folder into the backend container, copy in files, trees, or ZIPs, and Thingport imports and empties it, notifies you, and sets aside anything it cannot import.
  • AI Categorization
  • Connects to any OpenAI-compatible chat API that returns JSON-schema output, such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, Google Gemini, or a local server, to choose categories and rewrite descriptions.
  • Docker Compose Stack
  • Pre-built GHCR images for the Express API and React frontend run beside PostgreSQL 16 and FlareSolverr with one docker compose command, needing a few hundred MB of RAM.
