RSS-Bridge

RSS-Bridge gives a feed to every website that never offered one, so social profiles, video channels, and news pages become subscriptions for any feed reader. Pick a bridge, enter a username or search term, and the generated URL returns Atom, JSON, HTML, MRSS, plaintext, or Sfeed output. Dedicated bridges cover YouTube channels and playlists, public Telegram channels, Reddit users and subreddits, Mastodon instances, Twitch channels, TikTok accounts, SoundCloud users, and Rumble channels. When a site has no bridge, CssSelectorBridge and XPathBridge scrape its pages into a feed from the CSS selectors or XPath expressions you provide. FilterBridge keeps or drops items by keyword, FeedMergeBridge folds several feeds into one stream, and FeedReducerBridge thins out noisy sources. Caching keeps upstream services from banning your server for repeated updates, and a token or HTTP basic authentication keeps a private instance closed to strangers. The enabled_bridges setting limits which bridges appear in the menu, and a failing bridge reports its error as a feed item, so your reader notifies you the moment one breaks. A new bridge is one small class file dropped into the bridges folder, and a mounted config folder carries your custom settings across container restarts. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Unlicense licensed.

Benefits

  • Follow Sites Without Native Feeds
  • Bridges for YouTube, Telegram, Reddit, Mastodon, Twitch, TikTok, and hundreds more turn profiles and channels into feed URLs, so your reader tracks sources that removed or never offered RSS.
  • Scrape Any Page With Selectors
  • CssSelectorBridge and XPathBridge build a feed from any HTML page using CSS selectors or XPath expressions, so a site without a dedicated bridge still becomes subscribable.
  • Avoid Bans With Built-In Caching
  • Per-bridge caching in files, SQLite, or Memcached stops repeated refreshes from hammering source sites, and the bin/cache-clear and bin/cache-prune commands handle housekeeping.
  • Keep Your Instance Private
  • A token or HTTP basic authentication locks the instance to your own readers, while the enabled_bridges list exposes only the bridges you choose to publish.

Features

  • Site-Specific Bridge Library
  • Each bridge targets one service, including YouTube, Telegram, Reddit, Mastodon, TikTok, Twitch, SoundCloud, and Rumble, and presents its own form fields such as username, channel, or search term.
  • Six Output Formats
  • Feeds return as Atom, JSON, HTML, MRSS, plaintext, or tab-separated Sfeed, so readers, scripts, and automation tools can consume the same bridge output.
  • Filter, Merge, and Reduce
  • FilterBridge includes or excludes items by keyword, FeedMergeBridge combines several feeds into one, and FeedReducerBridge discards a percentage of items from noisy feeds.
  • Errors Delivered As Items
  • A failing bridge returns one feed item describing the error, with report_limit delaying alerts until a failure repeats, plus http and none output modes.
  • Custom Bridge Development
  • New bridges extend BridgeAbstract in the bridges folder, parse pages with getSimpleHTMLDOM, and return items carrying uri, title, timestamp, author, content, enclosures, and categories.
  • Docker Image With Config Volume
  • The rssbridge/rss-bridge image listens on port 80 and reads config.ini.php and custom bridges from a mounted config volume, with a docker-compose option as well.
