Oksskolten

Subscribe to a feed and Oksskolten fetches the complete text of every new article, cleans it, and files it as Markdown in a library you can read without leaving the app. About 500 cleanup patterns strip ads, navigation, and tracking, with no per-feed toggles or selectors to maintain. No feed on the site? Auto-discovery goes first, then RSS Bridge, then LLM-inferred CSS selectors, while FlareSolverr gets past bot protection. Every feed is checked on its own schedule, somewhere between every 15 minutes and every 4 hours. Inbox, Read Later, Liked, and Read views keep the queue tidy. Clip any URL as a standalone article. Likes and bookmarks feed an engagement score that shapes search ranking and recommendations. One click summarizes or translates an article through Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, Ollama, or vLLM, with Google Translate and DeepL as translation engines. Ask the chat questions about your archive, or point Claude Code or Codex at the built-in MCP server to use the same tools. Search forgives typos and covers every stored article. Login works with a password, a passkey, or GitHub. Pick from four layouts and fourteen color themes, import custom themes as JSON, rebind keyboard shortcuts, and keep reading offline as a progressive web app. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Every article readable in-app
  • Each entry is fetched from its original page, stripped of ads, navigation, and tracking elements by roughly 500 cleanup patterns, and stored as Markdown, so reading never needs a click-through to the source site.
  • AI that reads full articles
  • Summaries, translations, and chat work on complete article text instead of feed excerpts, using Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, Ollama, or vLLM, with cloud provider keys entered in the Settings screen.
  • Subscribe to sites without feeds
  • When a page offers no RSS or Atom feed, Oksskolten tries auto-discovery, then RSS Bridge, then LLM-inferred CSS selectors, while FlareSolverr fetches bot-protected and JavaScript-rendered pages.
  • One container, no database server
  • The API, web interface, and scheduler share one container on port 3000 with embedded SQLite storage, so no database server is required; Meilisearch, RSS Bridge, and FlareSolverr run as companion services.

Features

  • Full-Text Extraction
  • Every article is fetched from its source, cleaned with about 500 noise-removal patterns, converted to GitHub-flavored Markdown, and stored locally with language, excerpt, and cover image.
  • AI Summaries and Translation
  • One click streams a short summary with bullet points, or a translation that preserves Markdown, using Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, Ollama, or vLLM, with Google Translate and DeepL as engines.
  • Chat and MCP Server
  • Multi-turn chat searches articles, reports statistics, and answers questions about your feeds, and the same tools are exposed through an MCP server for Claude Code, Codex, and other clients.
  • Typo-Tolerant Archive Search
  • Meilisearch indexes the entire article archive, so searches forgive misspellings and match complete article text rather than only titles and feed excerpts.
  • Adaptive Feed Fetching
  • Each feed gets its own check interval between 15 minutes and 4 hours, using ETag and Last-Modified requests, content hashing, exponential backoff, and removal of 60+ tracking parameters.
  • Themes, Layouts, and PWA
  • Four layouts, fourteen color themes with custom JSON import, rebindable keyboard shortcuts, and a progressive web app that supports offline reading and background sync.
