Magistrala

Thousands of devices speaking four different protocols is where IoT projects usually dissolve into glue code; Magistrala replaces that tangle with one platform where MQTT, HTTP, WebSocket, and CoAP clients share a single identity, provisioning, and messaging model. You organise work into domains, register clients for devices and applications, and connect them to channels that control who publishes and who subscribes, with fine-grained policies deciding which client may touch which channel. Protocol adapters bridge the transports, so a sensor publishing over MQTT and a dashboard reading over WebSocket meet in the same channel without translators in between. Telemetry lands in TimescaleDB through dedicated writer services and comes back out through reader APIs, while the bundled three-node FluxMQ cluster carries the messaging load with mutual TLS on device connections. The rules engine reacts to incoming messages with conditions and actions, alarms flag the readings that breach them, and reports package fleet data for the people who never open a terminal. A Community web UI covers domains, clients, channels, messages, and rules for day-to-day operation, and everything deploys as one Docker Compose stack with Prometheus metrics and Jaeger tracing already wired in. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Four Protocols, One Identity Model
  • MQTT, HTTP, WebSocket, and CoAP clients authenticate and publish into the same domains, clients, and channels, so mixed fleets share one access model instead of four protocol-specific silos with separate credentials.
  • Provisioning And Policies Built In
  • Domains organise tenants, clients represent devices and applications, channels route messages, and fine-grained policies govern every connection, giving fleets lifecycle management and access control without a separate device registry.
  • Telemetry Stored And Queryable
  • Writer services persist messages to TimescaleDB while reader APIs serve them back for dashboards and analytics, and the rules engine plus alarms turn raw readings into actions and alerts.
  • One Compose Stack, Observable
  • The full platform, FluxMQ cluster, Atom identity, Community UI, bootstrap, and certificate services, deploys via Docker Compose with Prometheus metrics and Jaeger tracing included from the first boot.

Features

  • FluxMQ Messaging Core
  • A three-node FluxMQ cluster brokers MQTT, HTTP, WebSocket, and CoAP traffic through protocol adapters, bridging transports so publishers and subscribers never need to share a protocol.
  • Domains, Clients, Channels
  • The platform model groups work into domains, registers devices and applications as clients, and routes their messages through channels guarded by fine-grained access policies and roles.
  • Timescale Telemetry Pipeline
  • Dedicated writer services store messages in TimescaleDB, including a JSON writer variant, while reader services expose historical telemetry through HTTP APIs for external tools and dashboards.
  • Rules, Alarms, Reports
  • The rules engine service evaluates message conditions and fires actions, the alarms service tracks breaches, and the reports service generates fleet summaries, all included in the standard deployment.
  • Bootstrap And Certificates
  • The bootstrap service provisions device configuration at first contact, and the certificate service with mutual TLS support secures device identity from enrolment through daily operation.
