Windshift
Windshift packs boards, sprints, roadmaps, test runs, time tracking, and a customer portal into one open-source tracker that replaces Jira on a server you control. Epics, stories, and sub-tasks form a hierarchy you can view as a board, list, tree, or map, and backlog items drag into dated sprints. The roadmap stretches across weeks, months, or quarters, and milestone pages show completion percentage with a status breakdown. Each workspace defines its own item types, custom fields, screens, statuses, priorities, workflows with conditions and approvals, and permissions, while JQL-style queries save as shared views. Event-driven rules update fields, notify people, and create work. Customers file requests through a public portal, and your team works them through queues with SLAs and approvals. Reusable test cases roll into test runs with success rates, and timers log billable and internal hours against projects and customers. GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, and Forgejo connections put branches and pull requests on the work item, and the importer brings over Jira projects, comments, attachments, and worklogs. A knowledge base and an asset register keep documentation and inventory next to the work. The interface speaks nine languages, including right-to-left Arabic, and sign-in supports OIDC single sign-on and passkeys. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.
Benefits
- Jira concepts without the Jira weight
- Projects, epics, sprints, boards, roadmaps, custom fields, and workflows follow the model Jira teams already know, so switching does not mean retraining everyone or redesigning every process at once.
- Pilot a migration with real data
- The built-in importer carries over projects, issues, comments, attachments, worklogs, boards, sprints, and custom fields from Jira Cloud or Data Center, so a pilot team can test with its own work first.
- Support and delivery in one place
- Customers submit requests in a branded portal and follow updates there, while your team works from the linked work item; one request ID ties the conversation to the task, with no second service desk.
- Your server, no per-seat fees
- Windshift has no per-user pricing and needs no account or license key, so every teammate you add costs nothing extra, and projects, attachments, and time logs stay on the VPS you choose.
Features
- Boards, backlogs, and sprints
- Plan sprints by dragging backlog items into dated iterations, then follow the same work as board columns, a list, a hierarchy tree, or a map view.
- Roadmaps and milestones
- A timeline switches between week, month, and quarter scales, and each milestone page shows percent complete, a status breakdown, and the work items grouped by status.
- Workflows, fields, and automation
- Configure item types, screens, statuses, custom fields, and workflows with conditions and approvals per workspace, and add event-driven rules that update fields, notify people, and create work.
- Customer portal with SLAs
- Customers submit requests in a public portal, and your team works them through queues with SLAs and approvals while the conversation stays linked to the work item.
- Test runs and time tracking
- Write reusable test cases and record results in test runs with a success rate, then start timers or enter hours as billable or internal time against projects and customers.
- Git integrations and SSO
- Branches, commits, and pull requests from GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, or Forgejo appear on the work item, and OIDC single sign-on and passkeys protect logins.
