Will Be Done

Seven columns, one per day, hold your whole week of tasks in Will Be Done, and rebalancing a crowded Wednesday means dragging a card to Friday. Unfinished tasks keep their day and get a quiet yellow marker instead of piling into tomorrow as red overdue badges. The Today view narrows the screen to one day, and Stash holds the few tasks you want close at hand without picking a date. Projects get kanban boards with columns you define, such as Week, Month, Ideas, and Someday, and separate spaces keep work and personal planning apart. Tasks carry descriptions and checklists, and recurring tasks repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly with custom intervals and end dates. Every device holds a full local database, so planning, completing, and rescheduling happen with no network at all, and changes sync across tabs and devices once the server is reachable. Vim keys such as h, j, k, and l move through everything, and a global quick-add shortcut in the Linux, macOS, and Windows desktop apps captures a task without leaving the window you are in. Todoist and TickTick imports bring existing projects along, and a token-protected HTTP API with OpenAPI docs lets scripts, cron jobs, and bots drop tasks straight into your stash. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Rebalance Your Whole Week Visually
  • Each day is a column and unfinished work keeps its place under a yellow marker, so one missed day never snowballs into an overdue pile and replanning takes a couple of drags.
  • Keep Working With No Connection
  • Every device holds a complete local database, so tasks open instantly, edits apply without waiting on the server, and sync catches up later even if your homelab is rebooting.
  • Own Your Data At No Cost
  • Self-hosting is free with no paid tier: one Docker container, SQLite storage on a volume you control, and no external database, cloud account, or tracking.
  • Stay On The Keyboard
  • Vim-style keys create, move, stash, schedule, and complete tasks, and a global quick-add shortcut in the desktop apps captures a thought without switching windows.

Features

  • Weekly Timeline Planner
  • Monday through Sunday sit side by side as ordered day columns; drag tasks between days, projects, and sections, and unfinished work keeps a yellow marker instead of rolling over.
  • Today View And Stash
  • Today shows a single day, and Stash is a persistent focus list reachable from every page for tasks you want close at hand this week or month.
  • Kanban Projects And Spaces
  • Each project gets a kanban board with columns you define, an inbox captures quick tasks, and separate spaces keep work, personal tasks, and side projects apart.
  • Recurring Task Templates
  • Turn a task into a template repeating daily, weekly on chosen weekdays, monthly on a chosen day, or yearly, ending never, after a set count, or on a date.
  • Local-First Sync Engine
  • A full browser database reads from local storage on demand and syncs through WebSockets to the SQLite server, merging conflicting edits field by field with a hybrid logical clock.
  • HTTP API And Imports
  • A bearer-token HTTP API with OpenAPI docs at /api/docs lets scripts add tasks, and Todoist (API token) and TickTick (CSV) imports bring existing projects across.
