Papra
Somewhere between the shoebox and the inbox, Papra keeps receipts, warranties, and leases in a self-hosted archive you can actually search. Upload a photographed receipt and built-in OCR reads its text, so a search for the store name finds it later. Searches combine name:, content:, tag:, created:, and has: filters with AND, OR, NOT, and parentheses, and any query can be saved as a sidebar view. Tagging rules label uploads by name or content and can be applied to documents already stored. Optional AI auto-tagging works with a cloud provider or a local model such as Ollama. Custom properties add searchable typed fields such as text, number, date, yes or no, and select. Organizations keep a household's or a team's archive apart, with owner, admin, and member roles. Share links let outsiders open a document without an account, with optional passwords and expiry dates, and each link can be switched off. Forward an email to a generated address, or drop files into a watched folder, and documents arrive without opening the app; both are opt-in. Deleted files wait 30 days in the trash, and optional encryption protects stored files. Sign in with email, GitHub, Google, or a custom OAuth2 provider, and script the archive through the API, SDK, CLI, or webhooks. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.
Benefits
- Find any document in seconds
- Full-text search covers names and extracted text, filters such as tag:, created:, and has:tags narrow results, and any query can be saved as a sidebar view for one-click access.
- Share with family or colleagues
- Organizations give each household or team its own archive with owner, admin, and member roles, and share links hand a single document to outsiders with an optional password and expiry date.
- Filing that mostly does itself
- Tagging rules label new uploads, optional AI auto-tagging can run on a local model, and opt-in email intake and ingestion folders import documents without anyone opening the app.
- Your archive stays on your server
- By default the database and documents live in one mounted data directory, optional encryption protects files, deleted documents wait 30 days in the trash, and self-hosted instances run without plan limits on documents or tags.
Features
- Advanced Search and Views
- Filters name:, content:, tag:, created:, date:, and has:tags combine with logical operators and grouping, and any query can be saved as a view in the sidebar.
- Content Extraction and OCR
- A built-in engine extracts text from images and scanned documents, with Mistral OCR, Azure Document Intelligence, Docling, or a custom HTTP endpoint available as optional providers.
- Tagging Rules and AI
- Rules tag uploads when name or content conditions match and can run on existing documents, while optional auto-tagging works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Ollama, LM Studio, or vLLM.
- Typed Custom Properties
- Define per-organization fields as text, number, date, boolean, or select, then record values such as amount, status, or priority on each document.
- Share Links and Organizations
- Public share links support optional passwords and expiry dates, with up to 10 per document by default, and organizations keep family or team archives separate.
- Intake Email and Folders
- Opt-in intake addresses turn forwarded emails into documents through OwlRelay or Cloudflare Email Workers, and a per-organization ingestion folder imports files dropped onto the server.
