# AI Deploy

> Paste a GitHub URL and an AI system administrator sets it up on a fresh VPS

## AI Deploy

AI Deploy lets you set up a public GitHub repository on a dedicated VPS without manual server setup. Paste a GitHub URL and select a server tier. RepoCloud creates the server and reads the repository, then an AI agent installs and configures the application over SSH — while you watch the progress in a real-time chat interface and can steer it. RepoCloud chooses the AI model. Servers have no ready-made application templates: Coolify, Dokploy, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, and every other repository you paste are set up this way, on a plain Ubuntu server.

> **Zero Server Setup**
>
> RepoCloud provisions the server; the AI agent handles dependency installation and application configuration

> **Real-Time Chat**
>
> Watch the deployment progress in a live chat interface — ask questions, provide guidance, or let the agent work autonomously

> **Full Root Access**
>
> Your deployed application runs on a dedicated VPS with root SSH access, just like any other VPS App

> **Resume the Chat**
>
> Resume your deployment chat from the server's manage page to keep working with the agent

## How It Works

**1. Go to AI Deploy**

Navigate to [repocloud.io/ai-deploy](https://repocloud.io/ai-deploy), or switch on the deploy-as-VPS toggle on a qualifying app's deploy page and press **Continue**.

**2. Paste a GitHub URL**

Enter the HTTPS URL of a public GitHub repository (e.g., `https://github.com/owner/repo`). To deploy a private repository, use the [AI Agent MCP](https://repocloud.io/docs/api/mcp-setup.md).

**3. Enter a Project Name**

Choose a friendly name for your project (e.g., "my-project").

**4. Select a Server Tier**

Choose a server size starting from $6/month (2 GB RAM). The $3 tier is not available for VPS deployments.

**5. Add Custom Instructions (Optional)**

Tell the agent what you want, for example to use PostgreSQL instead of SQLite or to configure a specific port. See [Custom Instructions](https://repocloud.io/docs/ai-agents/custom-instructions.md).

**6. Deploy**

Click **Deploy**. RepoCloud provisions a fresh Ubuntu VPS and begins analyzing your repository. AI-assisted deployment typically takes 5–15 minutes.

**7. Follow the Chat**

You are redirected to a status page while the VPS provisions and the AI researches your repository. Once ready, the chat interface opens where you can watch the agent work, answer questions, or provide custom instructions.

**8. Get Your Result**

When the agent finishes, it reports the application's URL and any logins it created. The manage page shows the server's address and its `ssh` command, and the root password comes in the deployment email, or with **Email Me** or a reset.

## Pre-Filled AI Deploy Links

When you use the **deploy-as-VPS toggle** on a container app's deploy page (see [Deploy as VPS](https://repocloud.io/docs/deployment/deploy-as-vps.md)), the AI Deploy form is pre-filled with that app's GitHub repository URL, project name, and tier. The URL input is hidden and the page identifies which repository is being deployed.

You can also link directly to pre-filled deployments using query parameters:

```
https://repocloud.io/ai-deploy-template?owner=<github-owner>&repo=<github-repo>
```

Both `owner` and `repo` are required: without either of them the page answers 404 Not Found.

## Requirements

- **RepoCloud account** with a verified email
- **A balance above $3** — below that, the form sends you to Billing and asks for a deposit first.
- **Public GitHub repository** — the repository must be publicly accessible; to deploy a private one, use the [AI Agent MCP](https://repocloud.io/docs/api/mcp-setup.md)

## Pricing

AI Deploy creates a standard VPS instance with the same fixed-tier pricing as any other VPS App, and the agent's AI usage is not billed separately. Monthly figures are nominal: the hourly price times 720 hours.

| vCPU | RAM | SSD | Monthly |
|------|-----|-----|---------|
| 1 | 2 GB | 30 GB | $6 |
| 2 | 2 GB | 40 GB | $9 |
| 2 | 4 GB | 40 GB | $12 |
| 4 | 8 GB | 80 GB | $24 |
| 8 | 16 GB | 160 GB | $48 |
| 16 | 32 GB | 320 GB | $96 |

Dedicated IPv4 is included at no extra charge. Billing starts when the VPS is provisioned.

## Resume the Chat

Open the server's manage page. While the chat is active, completed, or ready, a **DevOps AI Agent** card with a **Resume Chat** button continues the conversation with the agent on that server. The button is not available while the server is paused for a zero balance: add credit first.

## After Deployment

Once the AI agent completes the deployment, your VPS is a standard VPS instance with the same management features:

- The server's address and `ssh` command on the manage page; the root password by email, **Email Me**, or a reset
- Power controls (power off, power on, reboot)
- Browser console for emergency access
- Snapshots for point-in-time backups
- Resizing to a tier whose disk is the same size or larger
- Custom domains with two CNAME records, on a server that is not named "Ubuntu VPS"

For full details, see [Managing VPS Apps](https://repocloud.io/docs/manage/vps-apps.md). To keep changing the application with the agent, read [The DevOps AI Agent](https://repocloud.io/docs/ai-agents/devops-ai-agent.md).

## FAQ

> **What types of projects can AI Deploy handle?**
>
> AI Deploy works with a public GitHub repository that can run on a Linux server, such as a web application, an API, a bot, or a static site. The AI agent reads the repository's documentation, Dockerfile, and configuration files to determine the deployment approach. A repository that says how to run it on Ubuntu 24.04 works best, and the agent asks you when it needs a secret or a choice.

> **Can I provide custom instructions?**
>
> Yes. The deploy form includes an optional custom instructions field where you can guide the AI agent — for example, using PostgreSQL instead of SQLite, configuring a specific port, or setting environment variables. The first 5,000 characters are used.

> **What happens if deployment fails?**
>
> If creating the server fails, the status page shows the failure. If the AI agent cannot fix a step, it tells you plainly what it tried, shows the key error output, and asks for what it needs, and the chat stays open so you can troubleshoot together. The VPS itself is already provisioned, so you can also SSH in and debug manually. You are billed for the VPS from the time it is provisioned.

> **Is the VPS different from one I deploy manually?**
>
> It is the same kind of server at the same price, with the same manage page, SSH access, and snapshots. The manage page adds a **DevOps AI Agent** card, and a repository outside the catalog gives an "Ubuntu VPS", which has no custom domain. The agent handled the initial setup.
